Confucius Research Institute, established by the Central Government of China in the hometown of Confucius, is a specialized agency dedicated to Confucian studies. It was set up in 1996 and put under the administration of Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies in 2020. Covering 10 hectares, it has been designed by Wu Liangyong, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Tsinghua University. What’s more, Comrade Jiang Zemin, the former general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, president of China and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, has inscribed its name. It includes 8 branches such as Department of Academic Research, Department of Inheritance and Development, Center for Confucian Documents Collection, Center for the Spread and Experience of Confucian Culture (Experience Base of Confucius Institute Headquarters), Department of Scientific Research Management.
