“Confucius Culture Prize” was an international award named after the saint teacher Confucius and established by China Ministry of Culture and Shandong provincial Government. This prize is the highest award in Confucianism research and spread, chiefly commending the individuals, institutes and non-governmental organizations that have made outstanding contribution to global Confucianism research and Confucius culture spread, aiming at encouraging the worldwide individuals, institutes and non-governmental organizations to stand at the height of the times, studying the essence of Confucianism, exploring the value and significance of Confucius and Confucianism, strengthening the discussion and exchange of Confucianism achievements, promoting the inheritance and spread of Confucian culture, enriching the connotation of world culture, promoting the multi-culture construction and development all over the world, and promoting the peace, harmony and progress of human society.
The office of “Confucius Culture Prize” Organizing Committee was set at the Secretariat of Confucius Research Institute, based on the international platform of the World Confucian Conference, the electors of which are the individuals, institutes or non-governmental organizations with great achievements in the study, popularization and spread of Chinese traditional culture. Since the establishment in 2009, the prize has been selected for 6 times. The winning individuals and organizations are as follows: Mr. Du Weiming and China Confucius Foundation in 2009, Mr. Pang Pu and International Confucian Association in 2010, Mr. Tang Yijie and Mr. Tang Enjia in 2011, Mr. Mu Zhongjian and Sungkyunkwan in 2012, Mr. Li Xueqin and Mr. Roger T. Ames in 2013, Mr. Chen Lai and Mr. Dong Jinyu in 2015.
Since the establishment, Confucius Culture Prize has become the most representative award in the research and spread of international Confucius’ Confucianism and the traditional culture, won extensive attention and recognition from all circles both domestic and from abroad, especially academic and cultural circle, generated very good social effect, promoted the inheritance and popularization of Confucianism and the Confucian culture, accelerated the prosperity and innovation of Confucianism research.
