On November 16, 2021, the 22nd Meeting of Sino-Russian Humanitarian Cooperation Committee was held online via video link. Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova attended this meeting. Prof. Ma Jianfei, Director-General of Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), and Aleksander Dzheus, director of Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" jointly signed an agreement for cooperation on creating the first "Sino-Russian Youth Language and Culture Communication Center".
Aleksander Dzheus said that the main task of "Orlyonok" is to take advantage of the experience of leisure activities in children's camps of world organizations to teach children Russian and Chinese and to help them understand the cultures of the two countries. In 2021, with the assistance of the CLEC and the Chinese Embassy, "Orlyonok" opened a new educational space, the Sino-Russian Youth Language and Culture Communication Center, which allows children to participate in cross-cultural communication. He expressed his thanks to the partner for taking a crucial step and believed that the cooperation between the two sides would achieve fruitful results.
Prof. Ma Jianfei said that as an important step to implement the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, CLEC and Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" have established the Sino-Russian Youth Language and Culture Communication Center. The center will use Chinese as a bridge to provide all-round support for the youth of the two countries in language learning, cultural exchanges and making new friends. In the future, the two sides will learn from the advanced experience in the construction of youth leisure camps in the world and match the needs and characteristics of young people to hold various activities in the fields of Chinese language teaching and educational exchanges.
In the past year, for the sake of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, CLEC has overcome the influence of the epidemic and conducted work creatively. It organized and implemented the online delegations exchange activities entitled "Passing on the Fire of Sino-Russian Friendship" for all Russian students, with a total of more than 6,000 Russian students participating. Since June 2021, the Sino-Russian Youth Language and Culture Communication Center has held nearly 200 activities such as various Chinese cultural experience classes, special lectures, and Sino-Russian youth connection activities for more than 3,000 children aged 7 to17 from all over Russia. In the future, CLEC will work together with Russia to continue to expand exchanges and cooperation in the field of basic education, and make use of language as a bridge for young children of the two countries to know each other and enhance friendship through fun activities.
