2021 Children's Picture Book Exhibition Named "Book World of Chinese Children" has come to Cambodian campus one after another since this November, which was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. With the epidemic situation in Cambodia takes a turn for the better, schools in the country are gradually resuming classes one after another. According to the host of the event, the event aims to help Cambodian students to understand Chinese picture book culture, enrich their learning content and enhance understanding of Chinese culture, through bringing wonderful picture books into Cambodian schools.
The event will be held in 15 schools in 6 provinces and cities in Cambodia where the epidemic prevention conditions meet the requirements of the local government in accordance with the scheduled progress. As of the 3rd, activities in the first phase of the event have been successfully held in 7 schools, including Guangzhao Chinese School in Phnom Penh, Happy Chadra School in Phnom Penh and Hunsen High school of Mongkolborey, covering all levels of educational institutions, like public primary and secondary schools, Chinese language schools, colleges and universities and nonprofit schools.
Ms. Fu Meijing, Principal of Guangzhao Chinese School, expressed her gratitude to the host for organizing the picture book exhibition event. She hoped that more events of this kind would be held to give children more opportunities to broaden their horizons, and said that the school would always support the various activities of the CLEC.
Sondalla from Hunsen High school of Mongkolborey said that it has always been his dream to study and learn about China. Although now he cannot go because of the epidemic, he will keep working hard to learn Chinese and intern his dream soon. This picture book tour has helped him to see what he likes and to have a new understanding of Chinese culture.
This year, the "Book World of Chinese Children" attracted the attention of thousands of teachers and students in Cambodia from the very beginning of the event. In order to inspire the students to draw and paint, the organizer also provided a special drawing instructor for each school to teach the students how to draw. Students actively participated in the exhibition and the organizers received more than 200 pieces of artworks within a few days.
