On October 27, as part of the 100 Days to Go Celebration for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, the excellent hand-drawn posters themed "Draw Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics & Learn Chinese" of Primary and Secondary School Students in Europe were exhibited online, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.
This collection activity aims to help European primary and secondary school students understand the Olympic spirit, enjoy the charm of Chinese characters and enhance their interest in learning Chinese by drawing the elements of the Olympic Winter Games. A total of 231 pieces from 46 primary and secondary schools in 16 countries were received among 331 participants.
Marina Mukhina and Julia Vozniuk from the Russian Children’s Centre "Orlyonok" co-worked and drew a poster entitled “Friendship Between the Olympic Mascots”. They depicted the mascots of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, "Bing Dwen Dwen" and "Shuey Rhon Rhon", as well as those immensely popular animals in Russia such as leopards, bears and rabbits to show the friendship between China and Russia, and wrote "Nǐ kěyǐ de (You can do it)" in Chinese characters to cheer up the athletes.
In addition to depicting the mascots of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Dani Esteves from Hautlieu School in the UK also drew five competition events in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, like ski jumping, skating and ice hockey, within the five Olympic Rings, as expressed her best wishes to the athletes from all over the world and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. She said, "I have been studying Chinese for three years, and although I have never been to Beijing yet, I know Beijing is an ancient and beautiful city, and I hope to learn Chinese well and have the opportunity to visit Beijing."
Alicja Franiel of Burggymnasium Essen in Germany drew a panda on her poster. She said that she looked forward to going to this beautiful country one day and see the lovely "Bing Dwen Dwen" with her own eyes.
Natalia Zaremba, from International Trilingual School of Warsaw in Poland, said in fluent Chinese: "I like learning Chinese very much and I also like sports very much. I once learned a saying in Chinese class: Yǒuyì dì yī, bǐsài dì èr.(Friendship is prior to competition), which is the spirit of the Olympic Winter Games. "
Maria Mardinova from Ukraine (Мартинова Марія)chose to draw representative Beijing architectures and mascots for her poster. She said that she was very happy to participate in this activity, which not only gave her the opportunity to depict the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, but also the chance to learn more Chinese characters.
Ana Isabel Sánchez López, from Algazara Primary School, Andalusia, Spain, sent her blessings to the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games by drawing her favorite ice ballet on the poster named "Ice Ballet, Blessing the Olympic Winter Games", . Andrés López Morales, from the same school,  drew Chinese and Spanish flags on both sides of the Olympic Rings, as well as his favorite winter sports, including skiing and ice hockey.
