From December 8th to 9th local time, the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg participated in the 58th Bazar International de Luxembourg to support the public welfare in Luxembourg. Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg, visited the Chinese booth at the bazar.
The bazar was bustling with excitement and the Chinese booth was particularly eye-catching. The flaming red lanterns, along with the vigorous and powerful calligraphy, embodied the profound Chinese appeal and characteristics.

On the afternoon of December 8th, Xavier Bettel came to the Chinese booth and brought a traditional red cheongsam for a little girl. He also shook hands with the teachers from the Confucius Institute as well as the volunteers warmly, extending gratitude to their efforts and dedication to charity.

During the event, the booth of the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg attracted local people’s attention. The prepared Chinese paintings, Chinese paper-cuts, Peking Opera facial make-ups, embroidered handbags, and panda key chains were all well-received by the public. The teachers from the Confucius Institute have been busy at the booth. A child picked up a Peking Opera facial makeup and hoped that the volunteers could explain its origin; a blonde grandmother who had been to China said that she liked pandas very much and this time she was going to buy another panda pendant for her granddaughter; a couple stood in front of a painting with a magpie for a long time, because they liked this Chinese painting that symbolizes love.

During the two-day bazar, all items provided by the Confucius Institute were almost sold out. The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg actively participated in public welfare activities, which not only deepened local people’s understanding of the Confucius Institute and Chinese culture but also passed on love and warmed the heart of the local community.
