On January 9th, 2018, the vice director of Poverty Alleviation Office of Shandong Province Zhang Ruidong led a delegate to Confucius Research Institute for investigation on how to do the spiritual poverty alleviation work with the Confucian culture, and held a discussion with the dean of our institute Yang Chaoming.
Yang Chaoming introduced the construction and development of Confucius Research Institute, especially the life and thought of Confucius, thinking that Confucianism and the Confucian culture are profound with a long history, constitute the important part of Chinese excellent traditional culture and the valueable spiritual treasure of Chinese nation. We should value the spiritual-level work in poverty alleviation, absorb the nourishment from Chinese excellent traditional culture, we should pay special attention to the rural cultural ecology and strengthen rural eco-cultural construction. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection of Confucius Research Institute on November 26th, 2013 was a grand event in modern Chinese culture history and sent the important message of vigorously carrying forward excellent traditional culture; our general secretary’s series of speeches are the guidance for our cultural work, we must follow our general secretary’s speeches, cherish a correct cognition of our traditional culture, make radical reform on the fundament Confucian issuses, elucidate our traditional culture clearly, erect our cultural confidence, and make positive contribution to carrying forward Chinese excellent traditional culture.
Zhang Ruidong said that the Confucian culture is profound and has a long history, and provide rich spiritual nourishment for us. Spiritual-level work is especially important in poverty alleviation. We must make full use of the traditional culture resources, grasp the essence of the Confucian culture, find motivation to spiritual poverty alleviation in the Confucian culture and carry out the poverty alleviation work comprehensively.
