On the morning of December 22nd, 2017, the Vice Secretary of Jining Municipal Party Committee Shi Guangliang came to Confucius Research Institute for investigation. The vice general secretary and director of Party and government office of Jining Municipal Party Committee and director of Confucius Culture Festival Office Liu Hui took part in the investigation. The dean of our institute Yang Chaoming, secretary of Disipline Inspection Commission Hu Zhiping, deputy dean Liu Xubing accompanied them during the investigation.
Shi Guangliang visited the research staff, inspected the office environment of Confucius Research Institute, the progress of Confucius Institute Headquarters Experience Center and World Confucianism Document Collection Center and listened to the report on Confucius Research Institute.
Yang Chaoming reported the construction and development of Confucius Research Institute, especially the series of measures and activities of our institute in academic study and academic exchange since General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Confucius Research Institute, including the construction of Confucius Institute Headquarters Experience Center, the Confucian Talent Highland construction, the building of World Confucianism Document Collection Center, the Young Doctors Forum of World Confucian Conference and so on. He pointed out that we must value the spread of the traditional culture, cognize our traditional culture correctly and establish the cultural self-confidence. The traditional culture need to “reach the peak of perfection” and “go to the grassroot” at the same time, in other words, we must do the sophisticated study of the Confucian culture, and pay attention to the cultural exchange among varied cultures and the application and popularization of the research fruit. Confucius Research Institute is dedicated to Confucianism study and exchange, and will make active effort in “reaching the peak of perfection” and “going to the grassroot”, and make positive contribution to inheriting and spreading Chinese excellent traditional culture.
After listening to the report, Shi Guangliang pointed out that as the specialized agency in studying Confucius and Confucianism, Confucius Research Institute must undertake the weighty responsibility in Confucianism study and exchange, show the feature of Confucian culture and build into the academic and experience sacred land. In building Confucius Institute Headquarters Experience Center, we must highlight the “experience” function, master the schedule and do the project acceptance well. We must further enrich the books in World Confucian Documents Collection Center by different ways. He emphasized that Confucius Research Institute must give priority to academic study; we must insist on “bringing in and going out” in cultural spread; we must absorb the talents by many ways; we must strengthen the officials group construction so as to carry forward the positive social energy. Confucius Research Institute must do the academic study and promote the Confucian study and exchange by gathering strengthen and with strong sense of responsibility and mission.
