On October 30th, in collaboration with Chinese medical team in Rwanda, the Confucius Institute at the University of Rwanda-College of Education provided free medical service for the freshmen at its teaching site of the College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda-College of Education in Kigali, capital of Rwanda.

At the freshmen welcoming ceremony held at the teaching site of College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda (UR), Chinese medical team introduced students to healthcare knowledge. Then physicians, surgeons, orthopedists as well as stomatologists offered medical examinations to students, and the team presented the university with medicines and sports goods.
According to Zhang Xian, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at University of Rwanda, the teaching site of College of Science and Technology in the UR was established in 2014. This year it enrolled 500 students in 8 classes, which is the largest number in history. Free medical service can help the students not only maintain good health so as to contribute more to Rwanda’s prosperity, but also deepen their understanding of various sectors in China, including medical care and gain a more comprehensive knowledge about China.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Rwanda was co-established by the University of Rwanda-College of Education and Chongqing Normal University. Since its founding in 2009, the institute has expanded its enrollment scale year by year and the number of teaching sites has increased.
